![]() In technical terms, it’s like trying to balance a mattress on a bottle of wine.” “I Am Random,” written by Gordon and Scott Murawski, ride playfully along a punchy, peripatetic vibe that has sonic echoes of the Grateful Dead and that showcases a spirited funkiness that rambles off at the song’s end into, well, a gleefully random-though thematically twinned-direction. Kottke says, “It really takes another kind of head to do what Mike is doing. ![]() The duo offers up their version of the Byrds’ “Eight Mile High,” which features the pair noodling around and jamming on the instrumental bridge. “Flat Top” illustrates Kottke’s amazing ability to deliver rich and multi-faceted sounds from a single guitar. The album opens with Kottke’s sparkling tune “Flat Top,” a jaunty, scampering tune on which Kottke’s finger-picking circles round and round as Gordon’s bass plays harmonic call and response to Kottke’s rhythmic melody. Drummer Jon Fishman, Gordon’s Phish bandmate, joins the duo on five songs, adding yet another rhythmic dimension to the music. Every song on Noon weaves a multi-layered texture of sound, with Kottke’s mesmerizing finger-picking wrapping around, over, and under Gordon’s darting and hypnotic bass lines. The pairing of Kottke and Gordon began some two decades ago when Gordon – a devoted fan of Kottke’s music – audaciously overdubbed a bass part over the veteran Minnesota guitarist’s 1969 solo track “The Driving of the Year Nail.” Gordon hand-delivered the piece to Kottke and the two musicians struck up a fast friendship and musical partnership, beginning with 2002’s CLONE and followed by SIXTY SIX STEPS.The best review of Noon - the highly anticipated third album from guitar virtuoso Leo Kottke and bass wizard Mike Gordon, their first in 15 years - might be simply to advise you to pick up the album, hit play, and sit back and let these exceptional and inventive musicians carry you along over the twists and turns of their astonishing musical journey. As a co-founder of Phish and solo artist, Gordon has both created both a boundary-pushing discography and helped inspire a generation of improvisers. Beginning his career on John Fahey’s Takoma label in 1969, Kottke virtually invented his own school of playing with his distinct, propulsive fingerstyle. Leo Kottke and Mike Gordon have both staked out distinctive and original roles in the annals of American music. It’s a more intimate record than the others are, I think there are depths to it.” We’ve found that at soundchecks, and at my place, or his place, or some motel room. “We were trying to get to that place that we get to in a little room, just chasing each other. “I just knew there was a shape and that we were following it,” says Kottke. And even when we had drums, we wanted to maintain that feeling.” There are overdubs, but it’s still more like you’re in a cafe or a living room with these two guys. ![]() “I was hearing a darkness in the material Leo was bringing, and some of the material that I wanted to bring, that I thought just reflected going through 10 more years of life. “The vibe is very different from the other two albums,” says Gordon. In addition, the LP includes nearly ambient appearances by pedal steel player Brett Lanier (The Barr Brothers) and cellist Zoë Keating (Imogen Heap, Amanda Palmer, Tears For Fears). Working with longtime Gordon collaborator, producer/engineer Jared Slomoff, Kottke and Gordon have crafted a singular collection of improvisational mood music, including a stripped-back version of Gordon’s classic “Peel” and Kottke’s stark rethinking of the Byrds’ “Eight Miles High.” NOON further includes a bopping cover of Prince’s “Alphabet St.” featuring Phish drummer Jon Fishman, who also joins Kottke and Gordon on four additional tracks. The album – which marks Kottke’s first studio record since his previous collaboration with Gordon, 2005’s SIXTY SIX STEPS – was recorded in New Orleans and Vermont, with music exchanged between the two artists by file, tape-sealed boombox, sheet music, and face-to-face. Intricate, warmly askew, and indelibly dexterous, NOON showcases 11 remarkable new tracks created by two of the most accomplished and idiosyncratic instrumentalists in American music. A recent live version of the instrumental “Flat Top” was recorded remotely with Kottke in Minneapolis, MN and Gordon in Burlington, VT. NOON arrives via ATO Records at all DSPs and streaming services today. ![]() Legendary Acoustic Guitar Pioneer & Groundbreaking Phish Bassist Reunite for First New Album Together in 15 YearsĪcoustic guitar pioneer Leo Kottke and Phish bassist Mike Gordon have released their first new album together in 15 years. ![]()

Of course she believes that – she is high. Unbelievably high, Jane believes she can pay off her dealer, remake the cupcakes, get the audition and make it in time to pay the electricity bill. Seems easy enough but when the temptation is too great to eat her flat mates cupcake's she quickly discovers they are made with a huge amount of weed. ![]() Jane is a regular pot user who today has to fit an audition and paying her electricity bill into her usual routine of getting high. Araki introduces subtle, witty imagery while simultaneously producing an enjoyable slapstick comedy. Indeed, there's incredible silliness and ridiculous over-the-top decisions, but that's the point of this movie(and not to mention Farris' character to begin with). I mean seriously, how often is "Marxism" and the Communist Manifesto brought into comedies? Many people will say this is "stupid," which seems like an oxymoron regarding a movie about weed. There are elements of great artistic direction-which is often neglected in many pot related movies, and their are numerous political metaphors. Unlike most "stoner movies," this one stands out as being one of the most original ones I can recall. This movie would be horrible if all the protagonist did was lay around high in her home. Obviously things of this extreme nature don't happen to people who smoke pot, but I like my comedies to have an entertaining plot. If you're familiar with Araki's directing and themes in creating movies, it would be easy to recognize this as a satire. I've read a lot of angry comments about this movie, claiming it's "bashing" on "stoners" and anti-pot propaganda. If you don't, you're not going to like it. So all in all, my recommendation is this: if you smoke, go see it. Being a smoker myself, the whole movie was incredibly stressful, and I understood exactly what the main character felt. ![]() The thought process was incredibly accurate, the physical effects, everything. I didn't like the ending and it did confuse me a bit as to what message it was trying to get across, but as for the rest of the movie, I thought it was genius. But this is precisely what I love about this movie: it probably portrays being high more accurately than any other stoner movie I have ever seen. If you don't get high or haven't gotten high, you won't think it's entertaining, and you probably won't get it. Honestly, the whole movie is kind of like an inside joke. But not while you're stoned-it will make you paranoid about everything! If you have never smoked pot, or are against it, don't even bother. My personal opinion: if you smoke, definitely see this movie. I completely disagree with many of these bad reviews. ![]() ![]() ![]() Considering soil fertility maintenance and fungal community survival and stability, the agroforestry systems achieved better results, and the ginkgo and wheat system was the best among the five planting systems we studied. The soil organic carbon, total nitrogen, and nitrate nitrogen explained 59.80% and 63.36% of the total variance in the fungal community composition in the topsoil and subsoil, and the available phosphorus also played a key role in the topsoil. The relative abundance of Ascomycota was correlated with the TN and AP, while the abundance of Basidiomycota was negatively correlated with the TN and NN. The dominant fungal phyla were always Ascomycota and Basidiomycota. The agroforestry practices significantly altered the composition of soil fungal communities comparing with pure gingko plantation, adjacent cropland, and nursery. Our results showed that the agroforestry systems achieved better soil fertility and carbon contents. Here, a high-throughput sequencing method was applied to understand the fungal community structure distinction in ginkgo agroforestry systems and adjacent croplands and nurseries. Speaking of 18650 battery, we have to mention Tesla, Tesla in the development of electric car battery, testing a lot of types of batteries, but finally locked the target in the 18650 battery, 18650 cells as a new energy electric car battery technology route. Common 18650 batteries are ternary lithium-ion batteries and lithium iron phosphate batteries. 18650 is the originator of lithium-ion batteries - Japan's SONY company in order to save costs and set a standard lithium-ion battery model, which 18 said the diameter of 18mm, 65 said the length of 65mm, 0 said the cylindrical battery 0 means cylindrical battery. We utilise the CDR rating for these reasons, which is the maximum current rating at which the battery may be safely discharged without overheating or destroying the cell.Introduction of 2170 cells and their differencesĬylindrical lithium-ion batteries 18650 batteries and 21700 batteries are widely used, some newcomers are not too understand the difference between them, I have collected and organized detailed information to facilitate understanding reference.ġ8650 battery originally refers to nickel-hydrogen batteries and lithium-ion batteries, as nickel-hydrogen batteries are now less used, so now more refers to lithium-ion batteries. We don’t use any pulse ratings since pulsing a battery has too many variables to compare two batteries effectively, such as pulse length, rest time between pulses, and battery temperature. Pushing a battery past its breaking point increases the likelihood of it failing.Ī battery’s pulse rating refers to the highest discharge current it can withstand for a brief time before being damaged or losing capacity. This is the maximum current that can be safely discharged from the battery on a continuous basis without causing damage to it. These are: continuous discharge rating (CDR) and pulse discharge rating (Pulse). When it comes to battery current ratings, you should be familiar with two terms. A battery that has a lower current rating than what you require will overheat because it is working harder than it can handle. It is important to know how much current your device needs before purchasing a battery. When it comes to choosing a battery, this is unquestionably the most critical factor to keep in mind. It’s almost certain to be inaccurate and misleading. ![]() In the event that you come across an 18650 battery advertised with specifications higher than those listed above, proceed with caution. There will be no 18650 lithium ion battery with a capacity more than 3600mAh or a Discharge of 30A in 2021. Other obscure brands have exaggerated ratings of all types. In addition, these companies’ batteries frequently come with a carrying case. A thicker PVC wrap on the battery offers additional protection, therefore they are useful in many cases. It’s important to keep in mind that these corporations don’t develop their own lithium ion batteries rather, they buy them from other manufacturers and package them for retail sale. When trying to attract customers and sell more products, many companies will inflate the battery ratings just a little bit. The quality of certain other products, such Efest, Vapcell and Imren and MXJO, has increased over time. In many cases, the battery will outperform the manufacturer’s claims. These companies’ manufacturer specifications are clearly recorded and have undergone extensive testing. These companies have a lengthy history of tradition, principles, and standards that they must uphold. You can trust LG Chem, Molicel, Samsung, Sony Murata, and Panasonic Sanyo, five leading battery manufacturers, to deliver high-quality, consistent, and truthfully rated batteries. Fortunately, the lithium ion battery market has a watchdog, the battery mooch, who conducts comprehensive testing and exposes firms that engage in illegal practises. ![]() Exaggerating battery parameters is against the law and might put consumers in risk if left unchecked. But some companies have been known to inflate their ratings so that they look better than their competitors. For every company, the goal is to make as many battery sales as possible. This is especially true when talking about the Chinese re-wrapping brands in general. ![]() It’s important to remember that not all companies are created equal, and you’ll often discover that battery ratings are exaggerated by some. The brand of the 18650 battery is the most important factor to consider when purchasing one for your device or project. ![]() ![]() ![]() Often the relevant context might be several sentences back, a problem that gets compounded by the increased word error rate in phone calls.ĭeciding what to say is a function of both the task and the state of the conversation. For example, when booking reservations “Ok for 4” can mean the time of the reservation or the number of people. In longer conversations, the same sentence can have very different meanings depending on context. The problem is aggravated during phone calls, which often have loud background noises and sound quality issues. When people talk to each other, they use more complex sentences than when talking to computers. We’ll be experimenting with the right approach over the coming months. We want to be clear about the intent of the call so businesses understand the context. It’s important to us that users and businesses have a good experience with this service, and transparency is a key part of that. The Google Duplex technology is built to sound natural, to make the conversation experience comfortable. While sounding natural, these and other examples are conversations between a fully automatic computer system and real businesses. Here are examples of Duplex making phone calls (using different voices):ĭuplex scheduling a hair salon appointment: It cannot carry out general conversations. Duplex can only carry out natural conversations after being deeply trained in such domains. One of the key research insights was to constrain Duplex to closed domains, which are narrow enough to explore extensively. For such tasks, the system makes the conversational experience as natural as possible, allowing people to speak normally, like they would to another person, without having to adapt to a machine. The technology is directed towards completing specific tasks, such as scheduling certain types of appointments. Today we announce Google Duplex, a new technology for conducting natural conversations to carry out “real world” tasks over the phone. They don’t engage in a conversation flow and force the caller to adjust to the system instead of the system adjusting to the caller. In particular, automated phone systems are still struggling to recognize simple words and commands. Still, even with today’s state of the art systems, it is often frustrating having to talk to stilted computerized voices that don't understand natural language.
